In this adventure, Spongebob enters Golden City, Baghdad to help Tack the Cobbler save the kingdom from the evil Zig Zag of Team Nefarious and the monstrous One-Eye of the Villain League. The plot isn't too original, but it's a fun enough adventure that introduces some fun and quirky characters. Golden City is a wealthy city protected by three golden orbs. A lovely princess and an adept cobbler fall in love while trying to retrieve three magical orbs that were stolen, all while outwitting a powerful sorcerer. The Thief and the Cobbler (also The Princess and the Cobbler, or Arabian Knight, depending on which version youre watching) is a legendary attempt by master animator Richard Williams to create the greatest animated feature ever. In the center of the golden city, atop the tallest minaret, were three golden balls. It's not your typical Disney animation, which is no doubt why people didn't really take to it right away. The result is pretty impressive, even though attempts to release the film in theaters failed to draw in audiences. Ambitious animation and lack of funding took its toll on The Thief and the Cobbler.
